My ancestors in this area have an unusual collection of forenames which include
Kerenhappuch
Kezia,
Tryphena,
Cephus,
Perlina
Obedience etc

Can anyone enlighten me about why these unusual biblical names seem to be so prevalent in the Black Country?

Thanks

Hi
Many of the unusual first names appear because they are the latin version of the English name latin was both the spoken and written word in a lot of churches.

Let's face it, it should make them much easier to find than John, Mary, Thomas and Elizabeth!!
My most unusual is Neri Eades.
