I'm trying to trace a Daniel Hillman. The only thing I know about him is:
He married Jane Hughes on 30 October 1820 in Sedgley, Staffordshire. They had 4 children:
Ann b 1821 d 1821
James b 1822 d 1870 m 1845 Caroline Devenport
Maria b 1825 m 1845 William Cooksey
Sarah b 1828 m 1828 John Fellows
I don't need any information about the offspring!! It is Daniel who I am trying to trace. Where did he come from, when was he born?
Grateful for any help!!
Chris

Re: Daniel Hillman & Jane Hughes
Is Daniel on the Census? Have you looked to see if anyone else has him in their tree?

I've not been able to locate on the census. Yes, I've looked at other family trees - a US researcher has come up with the same problem.

Gee...Sarah married young....
I think you meant born 1828..maried John Felows 1849.
Do you have any of the marriage certificates and if so, do they designate the father as alive/dead and his occupation?

Re: Daniel Hillman & Jane Hughes
There were no parents present at the marriage of Daniel and Jane - but I must admit that I didn't note down the witnesses.
For the marriage of James and Caroline, Daniel was listed as being the father, profession was miner, living in Princes End, with Sarah Hillman being a witness.
There is a possibility that Daniel is the son of Thomas Hillman and Catherine Watton but I couldn't find any record of this. Sarah Hillman (b 1772) was a daughter of Thomas & Catherine (along with Lidia b 1763 d 1769). Sarah married a William Hughes in 1793. I think Catherine remarried a John Hughes in 1793.
