A little guidance, please..

I'm sure the answer is here somewhere so please feel free to point it out...

The symbols on the sides of the threads.... okay..black lines mean there's no change, red lines mean there's a new posting.. the star means its one I have posted in... I think I've figured that out, but what do the moving lines mean, black or red and what about the smaller circle in the big circle?

Oh, and how can I contact someone from the surname list if I wish to?

no it means that there are a few pages or over one?

The star I never noticed...so you learn somat every day!

To contact someone on the surname list
go to members at the top and basically all members are there a-z
Click on the name and then pm them.
