ARC TBC - vickers baptism look up
I have a Christopher Vickers who married in Croften nr Wakefield West Yorkshie,on the 30/11/1721. He married Ann Grace. I have been trying to find his baptism with no luck. Tried the free sites and also Find My Past but he isnt there. Is there any chance someone could have a look elsewhere for me. They had a son,Andrew in 1727.
Thankyou,
Trevor

That marriage says Christopher Vickers and also has Stranger.
Wonder if he was from another area?

You know you are very lucky to get that far back as it is. Its very hard to go further unless there are documents to prove it. Most ordinary people dont have that.
Have you tried
https://familysearch.org/
But as you dont know what area it leaves it all open...

do the witnesses of the marriage help ?
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Re: vickers baptism look up
Looking at the original parish entries....
The register says nothing more about the marriage but it looks like "stranger" was put in as an afterthought.
In the Warmfield register, Andrew was baptised Vickars and Christopher was buried as a Vicars so the surname variations are a problems even in the same Church register!!!
On the page with Andrew's baptism, Christopher's profession is collier. On Christopher's death records, he is a labourer.
Christopher's burial entry of the 28th April 1738 does not mention his age so that makes it very difficult to find the correct baptism with the variance in spelling.
