I've been researching my family history for about 4 years and coming from Wales it's so difficult as the names are so common. Most of my names are Jones,Davies,Evans,Thomas,Jenkins,Roberts etc.I do have a couple of ancestors with less common names Bonaventure being one of them.
Look forward to using the site

Welcome Mags.
I have a horrible feeling that the rare surname will be no easier to track

Hello Mags - welcome to the Forum
I'm a Mags with Welsh connections - luckily a name that's not so common - Mutton, although that is originally from Cornwall. I do have Hughes and Williams in Wales though.
Don't despair - I do have Jones's from Tipton in my tree and have managed to get back to the 1700's
Best wishes - Maggie
