ARC TBC............Cradley/Cradley heath queries

Post by Sharon »

Hi clever people!
Can anyone answer or have info. on my 3 queries?

-Are there any plans to clean up Cradley churchyard? I'd gladly join a working party!

- Is there a document in existence detailing the employees of Cradley iron works?

-The 1911 census has a "House for inebriates "in Corngreaves Rd., Cradley heath. There is a list of women (only) from all over the country. Anyone have any info. on this ( and where did they house the men?!)

Thanks in advance
Sharon

Hi Sharon, Dudley and or maybe Sandwell would have records on Corngreaves Iron Works. Cradley Churchyard has recently had a clean up, you are only up the road, call in ask, sure they would be very pleased to see anyone with a bin bag and a pair of shears. :P Linell.

Sharon, The 'House for Inebriates' was I believe Corngreaves Hall but I think for only a short while. I have more info somewhere if I can lay my hands on it.
