Re: Thomas Yardley b1840
I forget ... Did we have a reason for tagging Thomas Yardley's dob as around 1840? He could be considerably older than Jemima, couldn't he?
I'm thinking he could be a miner as they often lived away form their families for long periods - could be in Lancashire or Cumbria.
I've come across these other transcriptions for Yardley: Gordley, Gradley, Wardley - all definitely 'Yardley' when you look at the original image.
Makes it hard, doen't it?
Then, again, I like the theory that Thomas is living 2 lives - has 2 wives & families ... A much more interesting story

Re: Thomas Yardley b1840
Jemima's sister, Elizabeth, born in 1814, died 1826. She had a later sister, Bessey, born 1822, but she married Charles Adkins/Atkins and was still with him on the 1881 census. Unless there was another later Elizabeth? Or is Elizabeth Mills related to Thomas Parker?
