when do you accept that you are on the right family tree,one name on a census still gives me doughts.
grandfather William Samuel Hughes b.4/4/ 1884, 59 hatherley st linthorpe middlesbrough,father Alexander,mother Esther.
Alexander died in a drowning accident river tees oct 1884 tees valley indexes ref m-j-21-0-164.
census 1881 rg 11/4855- 59 hatherley st, Thomas A Hughes head 26 labourer/ironworks bn. neatherton
Esther Hughes 23 bn saltwell copies
Lavinia hughes dtr 2 bn saltwell copies.
this is the only record with the name thomas,when I put these facts to westmidlands bmd they sent me the birth cert:
20/6/1853 primrose hill dudley Alexander,father Samuel brickmaker,mother Clara Ann Barnsley dist of dudley county of worcester.
this links with the BCC family tree Hughes no.8 Alexander bn abt 1786,no.252 Samuel bn abt 1828 and no 10 Alexander bn 1853, also census's 1851,1861.
I have Alexanders and Esthers marriage cert,lavinia's birth cert and other census info but only the name Alexander is used all information I can give to the BCC if useful.
finally,whilst on a short camping trip to wolverley early july I went to dudley archives at coseley and met a friend "of",went through transciptions of christenings and babtisms st andrews,netherton and microfilm of st thomas's hoping to find an addition of the name Thomas,but nothing.if I am on the right family connections I notice Joseph Hacket and William Haynes ancesters Hughes Thomas 1870 & Hughes James 1875 have the same family connections.

William must have been under 18 when married, he was born 4/4/1884

son Alexander b.16/7/1907 died in accident falling in river tees from transporter bridge middlesbrough.
it isstrange two ancesters named Alexander met their death in the same river many years apart,

hi,
we never found why thomas was on the 1881 census, he did of course have a younger brother called thomas.
whether he may of wished to have a different identity,who knows.
Iamkeeping my fingers crossed that its not the otherway round,that he was a thomas and added alexander.
where do you stop including ancesters, ie, born out of the area,or dates born etc.
this should now be archived.
