Well i was told recently by my uncle, That until she saw her wedding cert she didnt know his name. This info was aparently given to the vicar by William Williams the man whose sister had beaten her. and hewould probably have known. Also, John had died 2 years before my Nans Death, so hes ruled out.

It is Lilians birth certif (your nan) that was born 1923
Ellen mother dies 1926
and John dies 1921

on birth no father
but on marriage it says Frederick Pickford
which may be Bickford?

Hello All

Im sorry for the lateness of my reply, New to this site and didnt realise there was another page of responses.

Northern Lass. Yes my Nan was Lilian May Bickford Born 1923. Her mother was Ellen Adelaid Bickford ( nee Rogers)
Ellen Married a John Bickford who died in 1921.Ellen Adelaid then dies in 1926 when my nan is 3 My grandmothers birth cert has no father on it but her wedding cert in 1941 has Father - Frederick Pickford.

In later years she was in touch with her step siblings so the Pickford on her marriage cert in 1941 i am taking as a mistranscribation.

The surnames you have found - Foster , Adams , and 34 Grundy St is familiar to me. This is my line. I just cant place Frederick.
