*Arch * bastardy files?
Farmers D has been kind enough to suggest I look into the bastardly files to trace my grandfathers father. I've never heard of these records so I dont know anything about them. Does anybody know how to access these files and if I'm likely to find records for 1922 Stoke On trent, Staffordshire? any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: bastardly files?

Okay... NOW I AM UPSET.. 4TH TRY
Ellie.. I should have said BASTARDY ORDERS
Here is an example http://communities.northumberland.gov.uk/008722FS.htm if you do a search on bastardy orders you will get lots to choose from. This one goes up to 1916 so I'm not sure if the 1920's would be included on any others.
Sorry.. but I am going as this site does not like me and keeps timing out..
Good luck!
