emigration to America from Lye Waste
Hi,
I read with interest on an old thread about the Liverpool Victoria Shipping Co sending a man to the Lye Waste in the early 1800's to enlist people to emigrate to America.
My questions are -
1) I wondered if there is any documented evidence of this any where on the internet or books I could read with more info about it?
2) my ancesters were the Bromyard family from Lye Waste, nailers. Ralph Bromyard mentions in his will on 1848 that his daughter Eliza Bromyard is living in America - hence my interest in this story - she married Mattias Smith in 1843 at Stourbridge. I wondered if anyone has any info on this family? I have looked for Eliza and Mattias on the 1881 free census for USA on familysearch, but I can only find one that may be Mattias married to another woman and none for Eliza. I couldn't find them on the passenger lists either as the one's that I have found are all too late.
Any suggestions or info much appreciated.
Thanks all,
Louise

Re: emigration to America from Lye Waste
Looking through the 1850 census onwards, I can find no suitable Mattias Smith in the USA.
I can't find a single one from the UK living in the USA.
The only one I can find in the immigrations records is from 1796!!
If I use the more common spelling of Matthias they are either from Germany or a couple from Ireland but none living with an Eliza.

Looks like it could be Broomyard,

Ralph Bercomgham 70. Nailer.
