*Archived pend look ups at Gloucs tbc* -Hamblett Family

Post by Judoroy »

Hi
Does anyone have any information on the Hamblett Family origionally from Cawney Hill Dudley my earliest research shows a William Hamblett c1791 married to a Sophia (my 5 x grandparents) most of the Hamblett family were brickmakers, I'm trying to establish a link between William and a Joseph Hamblett (Hamblet) the founder of the Hamblett Blue Brick Company in West Bromwich,

Hi Jan
Thanks for the link, my great grandfather actually lived with Joseph Hamblett and his family at what is now known at Oak House Museum, ( they never actually owned the property they rented) I have researched the company one thing I found which amused me was the name was shortened to Hamblet as the name with 2 t's wouldn't fit on the brick, the companies bricks can still be seen all over the Black Country on the canals

A possibility! I know there are many Hambletts residing in Gloucestershire, but I've not been able to establish a definate link its one I have investigated, I know there is a family link with Gloucestershire as members of the Dudley Branch have been found on census's staying with relatives ie nephew or niece, I've not been able to find William after 1841 so no place of birth is recorded

Many thanks
It looks as though I'll be going to Gloucester Archives in the near future to check out the info given, for a lot of Gloucestershire I use the Forest of Dean website sadly none of the areas have yet been transcribed
Again many Thanks
Roy
