Hi Guys
Some general advice on a Northern Ireland family research problem would be very gratefully received.
My wife's great great grandfather Samuel was illegitimate. He appears in the 1901 Census of ireland like this:
Elizabeth Stewart 72 HoF
Ann Eliza Gracey 30 Daughter
Samuel Stewart 9 Grand Son
and in 1911:
Ann Eliza Gracey 42 HoF
Samuel Gracey 19 Son.
So what do i read into all of that
And where do I go next give the earlier census are missing?
Eddie

Re: Illegitimate Ancestor - how to progress
Hi
Puzzling isn't it?
So, Samuel seems to be son of Ann Eliza Gracey. There seems to be a baptism for Ann Eliza in the IGI, 23rd Feb 1869 Drogmore, Co Down, mother Sarah Gracey. It might be worth getting a copy of that to see if there is any more information.
I can't work out the Stewart/Gracey connection at all. Perhaps someone else will be brighter?

Re: Illegitimate Ancestor - how to progress
Thanks everybody.
I've looked at that site and it seems very useful. Dromore is only a few miles away so I'll take myself off there and see what i can find.
I also looked for any record of a Samuel Gracey born 1902 but found nothing. However there was a Samuel Stewart born 3rd Q 1892 and registered in Armagh - so that's a distinct possibility.
