ARC TBC............Military Birth records etc

Post by Eddie Parks »

Hi Guys

can someone advise me where I can find the records of BMD in relation to servicemen abroad - and in particular India.

Specifically I am seeking information about the marriage and children of Hedley Charles Parks and Julia Rodgers possibly in Simla C1900 to 1916.

You can order the marriage certificate from the GRO.

Army Marriage PARKS HEDLEY CHARLES Simla Year 1901 Page:74 From "Army Returns - Marriages 1901-1905" Page 10.

You can also order the births which can also contain the Baptism/Christening records.

Army Birth PARKS LEONORA MAY Simla Year 1903 Page:198 From "From "Army Returns - Births 1901-1905" Page 16

I can't see any more in Simla but if you give me the names of the other children and I give you the GRO index.

Leonora is also listed in the regimental births.

Name: PARKS, Honora M
Mother's maiden name: Not available before 1966
Regiment: 41st Foot
Place: Simla
Country: Indian Subcontinent
Year: 1903
Volume: 1328
Page: 98
Record source: GRO Regimental Birth Indices (1761 to 1924)

No record of the other children under regimental or army records.

Mark, That's magic because it gives me his original Regt as well, although the title 41st of Foot should have disappeared in 1881!!!

Eddie

PS - just occurred to me that perhaps there are no more records in the Army series because he transferred out of the British Army to the Indian Army at some time.
