In 1900 US Census --William Ford
in 1910 US Census -- William Food -- Jackson Missouri

Are these two people the same born 1843 Leicester England-- possibly with wife Emma Jane and sons William 1867 Arthur 1869??

Emma J may be in 1920 too.

Yes.

I think William Ford in 1900 is the same man as William Food in 1910 becaus Ada M Food/Ford is daughter in both cases and the wife is Emma J Ford/Emma Jane Food.
I think William is in Missouri in 1870 aged 28, and in 1880 still single aged 36 in Washington, Jackson, Missouri. Emma Jane in the 1910 census is down as immigrating in 1882 and William in 1870 so on the face of it it looks unlikely that William and Emma had sons born 1867/1869
But as you know I'm sure, William Henry and Arthur are in Washington too in 1900 and they are great fits for the 1881 census in Leicester, living with their mother Emma J and her parents. Since Emma is down as married there I suppose her husband claimed to be single at first and then had his family follow him out to America much later.
Is that what you are thinking?
Amazing that the family should do that, follow him out after 12 years!

why do you say they couldn't have sons in 1867/1869? -- I thought I had a marriage for them in England before 1867 -- and yes it looks as though they followed him after 12 years -- that is devotion!
