HMS Victory crew and wives 1805
I am told my Great Great Grandmother was born on Nelson's ship Victory in 1805. How can I verify this? Could someone please point me in the right direction.

I don't know if you're still bothering with this forum I do'nt understand how a query can receive nearly 900 views and remain unanswered in over 3 years

If you take a look at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/nelson/links.htm they have some good links including http://www.hms-victory.com/ where there is a Trafalgar Crew List or you could contact Portsmouth's Royal Naval Museum at http://www.royalnavalmuseum.org/research.htm

Hi there, my great grandmother 5 times removed from me gave birth on board ship with Lord Nelson on it and was asked to become Godfather to her newborn baby and said yes. This story has been in my family for along time and there is supposed to be documents to prove this but where I don't know. I am at the moment researching all my grandmothers and trying to read Nelsons letters for any clue to this. Unfortunately not everything had to be noted down back around the 1770's/1780's. Try the British Museum they seem to have alot on Nelson. Good luck.
