My mother would very much like to know more about Marjorie Sylvia HALL...born 1915 in Birmingham.
The story within the family goes something along the lines of...Marjorie was the daughter of Leah HINDLEY ( born 1890 Smethwick)
Leah was married to Albert Harold HALL.....then after Leah died ( don't know what year)... Leah's sister Harriet Emily HINDLEY (born 1893 Smethwick... and known to all of us as 'Aunt' Emily) married the widower (Albert).. they emigrated to Canada and Emily raised her sister's daughter.
Aunt Emily returned to live in England a few years after the death of Albert in 1951, but we don't know what happened to Marjorie?
One clue is that in some legal paperwork we found ...Leah's daughter was referred to as Mrs. GLADIS... but that is all I know.
I have so far found a possible birth for Marjorie S HINDLEY.... Jan-Mar 1915 Birmingham..mother's maiden name HINDLEY
( guess I should send off for the certificate to check if mother is Leah!)
I have a ship record for Albert, Emily and Marjorie Sylvia arriving in St John New Brunswick in 1926.
I also found ( on IGI) marriage record in British Columbia, Canada... date 01 Apr 1931.. for Albert Harold HALL (age 38)widower..born Birmingham.... to Emily Harriet HINDLEY (37) born Smethwick
Problem is .... I can't find a marriage record for Leah ( so can't confirm if she was actually married to Albert), I'm not sure when she died ( the only possible match I found for death was for a Leah B HALL...1921 Kings Norton, Worcs...with age listed as 28...that is a couple of years out)
I would also like to establish if Albert was in WWI... there are a few Albert HALLS listed as having served.... and maybe there would be a record of wife Leah??
Although I live in Canada, I don't have the full 'International' membership with 'Ancestry'.... just a basic membership with UK records ( as that's where most of the ancestors were to be found)... so I'm getting a bit stuck for info. on Marjorie Sylvia ( assuming she stayed in Canada).
Does anyone out there have the 'International' membership? and could have a quick look at the records for me before I consider upgrading.... this is getting to be an expensive hobby!!
Many Thanks

Hi expat, without the World Wide Ancestry option, I think your best bet is to send for the certificate you mention here:-
I have so far found a possible birth for Marjorie S HINDLEY.... Jan-Mar 1915 Birmingham..mother's maiden name HINDLEY
( guess I should send off for the certificate to check if mother is Leah!)
I think that is the best way forward, unless anyone else has World Wide Ancestry.

Thanks Linell,
I agree... sending off for certificate is probably the next step. Otherwise pretty stuck on this one.
Might as well archive for now
