Post by dolly »

Hi
Can anyone please help me find my great grandfather Ernest Wood in 1911?
Its the only information I have missing for him but the whole family seems to have disappeared after 1901!!
Here is what I have:
WOOD, Ernest (Father of Annie Lizzie Wood)

Birth:
Ernest Wood

Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
DISTRICT: Leek
COUNTY: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b
Page: 333

Marriage:
1914 Ernest Wood to Annie Beswick at Quarnford, St Paul, marriage registered at Newcastle Under Lyme 40C/1/96

St Paul, Quarnford:
1 June 1914 - Ernest Wood, 22, bachelor Carter of Wickenclough, father = Samuel, a Farmer and
Annie Beswick, 19, Spinster Farmer of Green Gulten Head, father = Isaac, a Farmer were married by Banns. Witnesses: Ernest Beswick and Florence Beswick.

Death:
Ernest Wood
Birth Date: 14 Apr 1892
Death Registration Month/Year: Dec 1989
Age at death (estimated): 97
Registration district: Stafford
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 30
Page: 1519

1901 Census
Hollinsclough, Staffordshire.
Samuel Wood 58. Farmer. Quarnford, Staffordshire.
Mary Ann Wood 28. Wife. Quarnford, Staffordshire.
Earnest Wood 8. Son. Hollinsclough, Staffordshire.

I have just spoken to my mother. She said that my grandmother grew up on a farm in Quarnford called "The Culvert"
She was born in 1919 so maybe they were living there in 1911?
I hope this information will help find them, Thankyou

No one seems to be able to find Ernest or the family in 1911 :(

1901 Census
Reference RG13, Piece 2627, Folio21, Page 9
Colshaw, Hollinsclough, Leek, Staffs

Wood, Samuel Head M 58 Farmer b Quarnford
Wood, Mary Ann Wife F 28 b Quarnford
Wood, Earnest Son M 8 b Hollinsclough

My grandmother (Ernest's daughter) told me that he had 2 brothers, Albert and Joe
Can anyone find Albert or Joe in 1911 same area?

According to the deaths I have, Samuel died in 1915 and Mary Ann in 1906. Thankyou.
