Hello from Melbourne...
Hi folks. Just joined this forum and looking forward to getting to know you over the coming months and years.
I'm working on a comprehensive family history to give to my grandchildren in the years to come. I did quite a lot a few years ago but got the "bug" again recently. I have to say all these online resources make research a heck of a lot easier than wading through microfilms and waiting weeks for a certificate.
If i can be of help to anybody, please let me know. I live in Melbourne, Australia and work just a few doors away from BDM office here!
Cheers
David

Hi dave welcome to the forum
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

How did I miss a fellow Melbournian?
G'Day and since you work close to the Victorian BDM can you do me a favour?
Go in and clip the first employee you see over the ear and ask why this is the only state where we have to pay to use the online index.

Makes my blood boil!
Even if I have the index entry from elsewhere, such as Digger or Ancestry, I still have to pay $1 to show the index entry before I can order the certificate.
Grrrrr.......
