Daniel Woodhouse abt 1861 connection?

Post by dianel »

I think Daniel Woodhouse b. abt 1861, Derbyshire, here:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&pid=83853&bpid=83853&bview=0&view=0&ccpid=83853&rand=659433286
from the archived thread "Ruth Rollason/Manassah Plant",

could be this Daniel on BCC, here:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=84235&randi=886570322

Particularly noting the birthplace. He seems to have been the illegitimate son of Rebecca Woodhouse.

Yes... and:

1881: 10 Birmingham Rd, Rowley Regis, Stafford

Daniel WOODHOUSE 20 Derby, Stone Cutter At Quarry
Louisa WOODHOUSE 19 Rowley Regis, Stafford, Nail Maker

1891 at 13 Church Rd., The Village, Rowley Regis
Daniel Woodhouse Head 30 Sett Maker (Stone) & Grocer b. Derbyshire
Louisa Woodhouse Wife 29 Grocer b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Joseph Woodhouse Son 5
George Woodhouse Son 6/12

If Daniel was illegitimate, might his father on the marriage be indeed of a different surname?

Jumping to conclusions here... in 1861 around the time of Daniel's birth in "Wittington, Derby",
there is a Benjamin Morgan, aged 21, living with his parents in "New Whittington, Derbyshire". I can't see Rebecca anywhere on the 1861 census.

Ooh, I'm tempted, NL. Just a bit nervous about it. It looks likely ... but ... don't have anything that tips it over into definite. What do you think?

I'm just going to look again at the census for Rebecca and Daniel to see if there are other people that connect them ...

Still can't see anything definitive. But the more I look at it, the more I think that birthplace for Daniel clinches it.
