"completed" Levi EVANS ( born 1884 Jennings bank, Oldbury?)
This may be one of my great grandmother's brothers.... son of Edward EVANS(born 1848) and Hannah DEARNE ( b.1848) ( parents are in BCC tree)
I have an address for him from the 1901 census..... back of 5 Park Lane Oldbury...living with his parents...where he is listed as labourer at chemical works.
Ancestry had a WWI pension record for a Levi EVANS birthdate 1884.... signing up in 1902 with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Reg. no 70574. The last two numbers have been crossed through so it reads 7058... I think this was done in 1915? as there is a stamp with that date on it over the top.
Ancestry also had WWI medal roll index card for Levi EVANS reg no. 7058.
Is anyone able to help me with anymore info.... or could tell me where to look?
Many thanks

All added here : http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... d=87581495
Hannah Dearne is related to my husband's family. In 1881 there is a son called Alfred Dakin with the family - aged 15. Not sure who he is - will investigate further.
It looks like Edward remarries and I have added this marriage for a lookup.
I can't find Edward or Mary in 1911 - I'll have another look tomorrow
The only Edward Jnr I can find is this one :
1911 : 145 Queens Road Worcs
Edward Evans, Head, 25, Farm Labourer, Born in Worick???
Elizabeth Evans, 29, Born in West Bromwich
William Henry Evans, Son, 4 Days, Born in Warley
Jane Philipotts, Boarder, Widow, Born in West Bromwich
There is this marriage 1909 : EVANS, Edward and PHILPOTTS, Elizabeth, West Bromwich, Holy Trinity, Sandwell Register Office, 25/8/113
Levi and Susan were born in Joinings Bank, about five minutes from where I live. The Chemical Works is now Rhodia, but used to be Albright and Wilson. There is some good information on the area here : http://www.historyofoldbury.co.uk/

Re: Levi EVANS ( born 1884 Jennings bank, Oldbury?)
Antie Em,
Thanks for the extra info... I will have to have a good look at this tomorrow.
Re. the stray Alfred Dakin... I worked out that he was Hannah's nephew... son of one of her sisters ( think we have him on BCC)
... I had a thread which covered some of this.... Edward EVANS(B.1849 Oldbury).
It was bit confusing because he kept appearing as a different relation... son? nephew?.... but anyway.. this is the theory I came up with... so hope I got it right!
Will get back to you tomorrow... it's bedtime here and my brain needs 'recharging'!

Thanks Antie Em,
He must have been in the army for quite a while.
This is the second bugler I have found in my tree!

He was a neighbour of my Murphys and Waterhouses in Park Lane.
Unfortunately it looks like they removed his pre-war records and combined them with his WW1 records.
This means they were subjected to the fires that destroyed and damaged the WW1 records.

So a bit of a dead end then on his military records?...interesting that some of your relatives were his neighbours!
Thanks
