Thanks NL - but it is the address bar at the top where you copy for links. I've gone through all the control settings and can't get it back. Must be something to do with the updates from today.

Tried all of those Peter - nothing about the address bar. I did go to one of the Microsoft Help sites and there was something really complicated - at the end it said if you don't do this properly - you may have to reinstall your Windows Programme - so I didn't try it. I'll ring my local computer shop in the morning. Although if Annie has the same problem, and we're both using Windows 7 - I should think we're not the only ones who are affected - so hopefully, Microsoft will know about it.

Thanks Maggie

By default the address box in IE 9 also acts as the search box.

If you start typing in something into the address box it will prompt you if you which to use the suggestion function via Bing.

You can use Bing or Google or any of the other popular search engines.

I have had many people ring me up asking where the Google search box has gone after updating to IE9.

If the address bar is missing altogether then the easiest fix is to unintall ie9. Windows will default back to ie7 or ie8 (whichever was the version upgraded to ie9).

You then download the full ie9 installation from Microsoft and install it that way rather than from the automatic updates.

Thanks Mark - I thought you'd know the answer - back to normal now, although I have to say, I did like the set up of EI9. Will reinstall it later from Microsoft.

Maggie

This is complete thanks NL - you can archive. Will PM Annie, make sure she sees this.

Just thought I'd repost this - if anyone has Windows 7 and have downloaded Explorer 9 - which by the way is really good.

The address bar is there - it's just hidden a bit

If you to to the tabs at the top - the first tab after the back and forward arrows contains the address bar just click on there and you can copy the URL, although it doesn't show all of it - it does copy the whole address.

Result :-)
