I think it looks like Mauphus and then signed either Mauphus or Mallphus. Perhaps she had bad adenoids? Try holding your nose and saying "Malpass".
Afte Mallosa's post I thi nk that clears it up? Maulphus for her father's name, and someone had a bad cold when they said her name to the registrar!
