Ernest Wood - help please... COMPLETED THANKYOU

Post by dolly »

I have received the following information today from someone who very kindly went to the Archives for me:

St Paul, Quarnford:
1 June 1914 - Ernest Wood, 22, bachelor Carter of Wickenclough, father = Samuel, a Farmer and
Annie Beswick, 19, Spinster Farmer of Green Gulten Head, father = Isaac, a Farmer were married by Banns. Witnesses: Ernest Beswick and Florence Beswick.

It appears that I have been following totally the wrong family for Ernest! I have his parents as John and Ellen Wood and Ernest and his father as coal miners whereas his father was actually Samuel Wood and they were farmers!

can anyone help me find his real family?? Thankyou

Thankyou very much
I'm still struggling a bit with the fact that my grandmother said Ernest had a brother called Joe, no sisters but some half brothers (she thinks) She has been right about everything else so far...that they were farmers, not coalminers and that there was a remarriage etc.
Does anyone have access to the 1911 census to see if there is a Joe on there somewhere? This would complete my research for Ernest and I can move onto his parents. Thankyou

Given that Samuel was quite a bit older than Mary Ann it is possible that he died she remarried and then had more children -- ie half brothers to Ernest -- and trying to find a marriage for a Mary Ann Wood who goes on to have a son called Joe is I suspect going to be looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack -- having said that some of the people on here have solved bigger mysteries so ....
