ARC TBC............Well - I've never seen this before

Post by Antie Em »

After many years looking at marriages - I've seen deceased or dead on the father's details but this is a new one on me - wonder why?

26 March 1872 - St James, Dudley
Thomas Poole, 21, B, Engineer, of Dudley, Father John Poole (alive)Engineer
Harriet Round, 21, S, of Dudley, Father James Round (alive)Charter Master
Wit : Joseph Poole and Mary Poole

Wonder whether they were only just 21 and the vicar was making the point that the fathers had given their permission

The new vicar of St James (Curate) A Hughes at that time marked the parents either (Dead) or (Alive) on all his marr from 10 Feb 1872- 1 Apr 1872 normal after that- must have been keen!
