Re: COMPLETED.............Josiah Male X 2?
Josiah Male was on top of a Haystack near his Cottage in Hayley Green 1831, when a group of people from Lye who were out Missioning that afternoon decided to hold their meeting on the Village Green near the Haystack. Josiah was so moved he invited them into his Cottage at Cherry Tree Lane. - So the Cottage Meetings began. Before long the little Cottage was bursting at the seams so they decided to build a Chapel of their own. Although they were poor they had plenty of vision and enthusiasm, and a trust in God. The first Chapel was built of Sandstone, sited at the top of Red Leasowes fields Hasbury, the Church was open by 1848, all thanks to Josiah Male and a devout band of helpers.

Re: COMPLETED.............Josiah Male X 2?
Hi Jan, it is just a short passage in my own words from 'Hasbury from a Haystack',' history of Hasbury Methodist Chapel. Josiah's wife was Mary Ann Higgins, there are lots of names mentioned, Crumpton, Warr, Willetts, Price, Harris, Hulston. A bit more on Josiah:-
Josiah Male worked on the Manor Abbey Farm, he was moving rubbish from one of the Abbey Buildings, he found four Roman Tiles. He cleaned and polished them, and gave them to the Chapel, they were laid in the Chapel Porch.
