Hi
I have received a fabulous letter from a wonderful lady working in the Bath records library. I now have all kinds of family information for Amy Lillian Davis b1888. Once I get all this entered, I will be able to focus all my attention on poor Miles. He must be feeling a little neglected lately.

Re: *For Info* Miles Davis b1852 England
Hi all, Just an undate for you. I appreciate all the help I am getting with Miles, et al. I now have lots of stuff on Amy Davis from Bath. A woman located in Bath sent me tons of awesome names and dates. What a huge surprise that was!
I must say, Miles HAD to have come to Canada in 1873, or pretty close to that year. I can't believe there are no traces of him in shipping records. Surely, there must be an organization that is intimate with the outgoing traffic to Canada in that year. I have his marriage certificate from 1875. It is woefully lacking in detail. Miles Davis from England... no parents, no home town, no nothing! His wife, Ellen Alberta Redmond, didn't have a lot of specifics either. Maybe he was being purposefully evasive. I am suspicious because some family has mentioned Wales when talking about Miles. All the records that I have seen though say "England". I am thinking maybe that's because he sailed from London and was trying to avoid being labeled as from Wales for some reason.
His first child was born in 1876. I figure that he would need at least a year to convince a woman to marry him in 1875. (I have a picture of him!) Obviously, nobody could tell a Welsh accent from a London accent. Anyway, that puts him on a ship NO LATER than 1874. So, all the records in Wales that have him there in 1881 are definately not him.
I was wondering, maybe he came over with his mother as a baby, maybe as Infant Davis in 1853? I don't know what his mother's name is, of course. OK, world, GO! Everybody look for Miles!
Just kidding... I know it won't be the WHOLE world.
