Nearly time for holidays what do you like to do ?

We have booked a holiday to Calleta De Fuste in April. Taking my daughters friend too Fun Fun Fun!

I'm not a great traveller - there are pubs round here I've not been to so why would I want to go further afield? Travelling is difficult due to MrsSRD's MS, it's worse than travelling with a baby and airplanes are definitely out, much to her disappointment, we made it to Greece about 15 years ago but the planning and organising was a nightmare and things didn't always turn out as we'd planned, but we did have a good time. I like to go to a really good country house hotel and explore the surrounding country, or self-catering, there are some very good, accessible, holiday cottages in the North York Moors, we like Fowl Green Farm. There are photos of a holiday we had there a couple of years ago here and here.

I like to holiday in this Country so many places I still have not visited yet , would like to go to the Isle of Man one of these day's, I dare not fly full stop, so have to go by boat, train car or coach and suffer from travel sickness, so it is a pain trying to get anywhere .

Like Jo I love my own backgarden.

I suppose I'm a bit of both!
I'm not much of a costas girl, much prefer city breaks, or something with a bit of culture, and preferably temperatures below 30 degrees!
Saying that I do like hols in the UK, although it tends to be a round of visitíng relatives (nothing wrong with that), which means that it's the same old haunts mostly with a couple of days thrown in somewhere we haven't been before. I've never been to Cornwall, so I'd like to visit there sometime....
As far other places, there's still a bits of Denmark that I've not seen, such as all the bits of Sjælland (Zealand to you lot!) that aren't in Copenhagen and the island of Bornholm just south of Sweden.

We're off for a few days in Hamburg in May as my other half is silly enough to be running his second Marathon.
One of our friends is taking part too, so his wife and I will be cheering them on - it's supposed to be quite an interesting city.

As far as proper summer hols are concerned we've nothing booked yet, so maybe something close to home - my husband likes his creature comforts so camping is unfortunately out. A few days in Copenhagen would be okay, the Bodies exhibition is on until August and there's a prize winning cafe with delicious cakes I wouldn't mind visiting

We have only just started having holidays again, nothing last year because of the wedding and sons student fees.
2 weeks the year before at easter time, a week the year before.

Before that it was about 10 or 12 years since we could have a holiday.

I totally understand SRD about it, not that I have MS. Find it difficult to get about etc. Packing a folding wheel chair amongst your luggage, then assistance at the airport, how the land lies when you get there, so much to consider.

Then insurance will only take you after loading it all

Too tired to enjoy it...

But my family need a holiday so they can tuck me up in bed at 8pm and I will be fine!

We need more than that, MrsSRD has a powered chair, she needs special equipment to keep her upright in bed, due to my wheat allergy we always take basic wheatfree food essentials, the list is endless.

Autumn here now, so it'll soon be time to head North to follow the sun. But first, I'm going to China and Tibet (that's if the Chinese authorities reopen Tibet to foreigners in time). Not doing any Tai Chi training this time, just touristing.

I'm really looking forward to the train trip from Lhasa across the pass into China. It goes across the Kunlun pass, 4,767 meters above sea level.

This year's trip up North will be a bit different. Many areas are still looking awful after the floods and cyclone and now floods again, but they're saying they really need tourists to come for the income, so we'll go. Maybe we'll go up by an inland route 'til we see how conditions are.
