Mary Ann Adlington

I discovered a second wife for Joseph Hunt on his death certificate: Mary Ann Felvus or Adlington.

I have traced her previous husband John Thomas Felvus b Leeds, lived in Bilston and Tipton. They appear in 1891 in Scotland. I can find her with her parents and 2 oldest Felvus children in 1881 and from the Scottish birth certificate of Ernest Felvus in 1890 it appears she was first married to a POINER.

I can't find this POINER marriage, though there is a Samuel Poyner and wife Mary Ann and children Matilda and WIlliam in Dudley in 1871 census.

I got the marriage to John Thomas Felvus (date of the marriage on Ernest's birth certificate is 23 Feb 1874 Tipton) confirmed by freebmd, Mar 1874 Dudley 6c 163

Some of John Thomas Felvus's brothers also turn up in Lanarkshire eg Josiah (aka Joseph) and Ernest. All are working in the ironworks.

I believe the Felvus parents to be Richard Felvus and Mary Foden, marriage Sep 1847 W Bromwich 18 693 at Sandwell. However John Thomas's mother, acc to his death certificate is Mary Hawkins. Informant his son. This may not be reliable.

here's Mary Ann's family in 1861 1871 & 1881. Can't get Mary Ann in 1871.

In Scotland she is either Adlington or Hadlington
parents are Moses Adlington and Jane Massey

In 1881 I believe the 2 "relatives" are Felvus - children of Mary Ann and John Thomas Felvus. They are in 1891 census in Scotland

Matilda was born before Mary Ann's marriage to Samuel Poiner.
Have her in 1881 as a friend with family of Joshua Price in Handsworth and I can see a death record in Scotland in 1935
