Hi people :P

I have Sylvanus Grainger who married one of my relatives and I am trying to find him pre 1870, when they married:

Date: 03 Apr 1870
Text: Church of St Mary, Kingswinford
x of Silvanus Grainger, 21, Bachelor, Miner of Kingswinford. Father: Joseph Grainger, Miner.
Esther Gould, 18, Spinster of Kingswinford. Father: Elijah Gould, Labourer.
Witnesses: x of James Grainger. x of Maria Salt.


I have him on all census after marriage, but cant seem to find him on any before, (the names a bit of a stinker with that old handwriting) nor a birth?

Could be silvanus or sylvanus

so looks like he lied about his age on census, and where he came from??

So if thats him with his grandparents? where's father Joseph?? or did he lie about that too??

Can i post that birth for a look up??
