Re: Finding info from the 1700's

The 1763 marriage is available on Ancestry and you can see an image of the Bishop's Transcripts and also the Banns record. So obviously it happened. I would seriously question whether the couple marrying in 1763 were the parents of Thomas Powell born in 1745 - that just seems unlikely. The Banns en...

Finding info from the 1700's

Using other people's links on Ancestry.com, there's a marriage in the 1700's which completely changes the fortunes of my family! How can I find out more about this marriage? Thomas Powell (Much Dewchurch, Herefordshire) to Elizabeth Spencer (Liverpool), 14th September 1763 (St.Nicholas Church Liverp...

Missing from the census?

Hi. Does anyone have any ideas on how a family can be missing from a census? I have ancestors who are on the 1861, 1871, 1891, 1901 and 1911 censuses (at the same address) but I just can't find them in 1881. The name is James/James and Mary Evans so not much room for a major mis-spelling. Are there ...

I don't know. I can't find him on the 1911 census for sure. The only one I've found that there's a small possibility is a 'waggoner's boy'. He became a postman when he left the army.

Re: John Milner (x4)!

I sometimes find myself following up all possible alternatives until they can be discounted. How do I discount them? If you map each of the possibilities you might find some of the options fall more readily into different scenarios, for instance emigration papers and foreign census records, militar...

I do I find who his parents are if I can't decide which John Milner is correct? His descendant was Henry Milner.

ARC TBC John Milner (x4)!

I'm trying to choose the correct John Milner and I haven't got a clue how to pick the correct one! I have found 4 which are just so similar: Name: John Milner Gender: Male Record Type: Baptism Baptism Date: 20 Jan 1790 Baptism Place: St Marylebone, Westminster, Middlesex, England Father: John Milner...

Re: William Parry, b1896

Hi There is this one. You might need to pay extra to see it and I don't know if it is him or not. Seven miles from Abergavenny. There is a health-related record on there for this soldier too. It gives his age as 21 years and 338 days when examined on 9 May 1918. If you can work that out and see if ...

Re-researching.

Hi. I started researching my family history in 2008 and gave up after hitting a few brick walls. So ... my husband decided to get his DNA research at Ancestry.com and with that comes a 3 month membership for £1 so I decided to have another go - after all, there's another Census online since I last t...

William Parry, b1896

I've been trying to find my grandfather's military records and have drawn a complete blank and I hope someone can give me some guidance. His name was William Parry, born in 1896 in Abergavenny. I know he served in WW1, I believe in the 1st Mons and he was engaged in the battle of the Somme. I can't ...
