I have managed to trace my family back to around 1500 in northern Oxfordshire.
I am wondering where they originally came from - possibly the Shipston on Stour area
of old Worcestershire (now Warwickshire) or southern Northamptonshire..
Does anyone have any POTTER records (before 1500) in those areas?

Sources of information before 1600
I have reached an impasse with my research. I am heavily invested in Wills and Parish Records for the period prior to 1550 (in Oxfordshire) but am at a loss when it comes to other sources of material for the period. Consequently, I am interested in land/property records, Lay Subsidy Rolls, Deeds, Ma...

Re: POTTER of Shipston on Stour
Yes, I am. I have widened my search to adloining counties in the hope of making some progress but have found nothing conclusive. I found a Daniel POTTER who married a Mary JOHNSON in Epwell, Oxon only a few weeks before the Shipston marriage but why would a couple marry twice? in different counties?...

*Arc tbc* ---POTTER of Shipston on Stour
My ggg Grandfather was Daniel POTTER born in 1786 (according to the 1841 Census). He married Mary JOHNSON (born c1786 in Blackwell, near Shipston) in Shipston on Stour on 15 Jan 1806. The marriage confirmed from Parish Registers. It states that Daniel is from Shipston but I can find no birth record ...

Re: Henry Augustus HARDING
Sadly, I have not discovered anything new. I am trying to establish a birth in New York, the names of both parents, when they arrived in the USA, any siblings, etc. Was HAH a soldier? Did he arrive in the USA as a tin plate worker or did that come later? Do you have any additional information?

I am trying to trace Henry Augustus HARDING born about 1786 - I don't know where but suspect somewhere in the Midlands. He fathered a child in 1818 - Mary Eliza Green HARDING who married Frederick MASCALL in 1839 in Birmingham. HAH was listed as her father - a tin plate worker. A witness at the wedd...
