Re: William Tolley b ? father of Mark Tolley b 1873 NL addin
Hi NL, sorry for the slow response but I've been a little busy. I do have Marks birth certificate, but not the 1873 Mark, I have his son (my Gfather) 1899. My supposition on the three possible marriages were only based on census and marriage records, not unfortunately certification. I traced William...

Re: William Tolley b ? father of Mark Tolley b 1873
NL, the date I have (although unconfirmed) is 1822, born Upton Warren Worcs. I also posted the info below on the brick wall you so kindly helped me with: I have the 1881 info where William is married to Mary who I believe to be Mary Dawes (wife number 3), I believe his first wife was Elizabeth Keen ...

Re: Dissapearence? RESOLVED
Interesting, I have the 1881 info where William is married to Mary who I believe to be Mary Dawes (wife number 3), I believe his first wife was Elizabeth Keen (1821-1868) who is the mother of Ellen and Sarah (b 1855 and 1857 respectively). I believe it is Emma Hollis 1844 - 1877 (wife number 2) that...

Re: Dissapearence? RESOLVED
As far as I can make out, Marks Father (William) was born abt 1822 in Upton Warren, I'm unsure as to his mother as so far I've only managed to narrow it down to one of three possible women; I have a feeling at this point that William was actually married three times.

Re: Dissapearence?
The ordered marriage certificate has arrived, Sarah's father was as mentioned earlier Thomas Brooker who, at the time of the wedding (25/12/1902) was deceased. He was recorded as an "ironworker" on the certificate, what did come as surprise to me was my GGGrandfather was listed as a "...

Re: Dissapearence?
I ordered the certificate today, had to go to the GRO as I couldn't pay at Dudley; I don't think their system works at the weekend. I will post the info when it arrives.

Re: Dissapearence?
I'm trying to request a certificate on line, however it's asking for the date of marriage and all I have is December 1902. Anyone have a suggestion?

Re: Dissapearence?
Thanks Gardener, I can confirm the Ballfields connection as we lived there until I was 6 and my GFather (Mark b1899) lived next door to us. Are we sure of the Thomas and Eliza Brookes are the right one's for Sarah? I do hope so as I've had a hewadache all afternoon. Many thanks to all that bothered ...

Learning the Hard Way
If there's one thing I've learned about geaneology, it's that it is really confusing at times. This is particularly evident the further back you go. I first joined this board a couple of years ago, I'm not a very active poster (just check my post per day ratio) but I do pop on every so often when ti...

Re: Dissapearence?
I've ordered the birth certificate for Mark but not received it yet, I'm pretty much a novice at this, can you get marriage certificates? If so Sarah's parents should be on there.

Re: Dissapearence?
To throw a couple of spanners into the works, in the 1901 census there is a Sarah Ann Brookes as a domestic in West Bromwich, and in the 1891 census theres one in the Himley area of Dudley. I can recall parts of a conversation with my mom about someone on my fathers side being a domestic servant, bu...
