I am only just getting stuck back into genealogy. I have been busy with my writing which keeps me sane. Both my daughters are working from home due to Covid so the house is always busy.

About 3yo at the Migrant Hostel in Oz. Mum threw stale bread out for the birds and I thought it tasted good, dirt and all.

G'Day from a fellow Victorian. I can see from your Ancestry tree you have done an excellent job gathering a lot of information on him. My only suggestion would be apprenticeship records. The Gunmakers may have him under his real name which was also used for his apprenticeship.

They would have been used as sappers. Many miners from Commonwealth countries were recruited for that purpose.
