This is to introduce myself. I'm researching mainly the DOWSON name in the north east of England. Got back to my great great grandfather who seemed to have been illegitimate and changed his name from CHILTON to DOWSON after marriage. Could it be he knew his father was named DOWSON?
Also interested in the names GASKIN and ONIONS on my wife's side who lived in the Birmingham area.

My Sister-in-law's family have Dowson's from Durham -- only back to William Dowson b 1912 Bishop Auckland m 1937 Weardale to Mabel Corbett b 1916 Weardale
