Having had the great privilege to have drunk (on more than one occasion) the light, fruity bitter from Ma Pardoe's, the Banks's bitter in various establishments in Cradley Heath (especially the Swan with Two Necks, The Five Ways and the one that was opposite it that is now demolished), Batham's at the Bull and Bladder, and various offerings from the Little Pub Co. in The Sausage Works (an old Charrington's pub iirc), I wonder which of those fine beers and establishments any of our members have sampled.

I don't drink bitter, its too warm, I only drink lager, as cold as you can get it

If Bitter is warm, it's been badly kept. Not quite Black Country but very close, I like the Enville Ales. I understand the pleasure of very cold drinks Jimmy but they do numb your taste buds. If you were to try that drink at a cool cellar temperature, you more than likely wouldn't like it. It's no coincidence that the mass produced keg beers and lagers are served ice cold.

But that's the thing Jimmy, if you drank your beer at room temperature, you'd think it was rubbish, you only like it because it's ice cold and numbed your taste buds. As explained HERE

wetherspoon normally stock 8 - 10 types of real ale at not bad prices usually a mixture of local and national suppliers

I'm not a great fan of Wetherspoon's, true the beer is cheap and usually good, but they aren't real pubs with different characteristics and varied landlords.

no they havent got much character but are consistant and handy to surf the net whilst trying a half of old hooky which im doing now in the wolves one

i prefer the small micro brewery like ma pardeos but bit to far to go for a half

It's a fallacy Mark, real ale isn't served warm, unless it's a bad Landlord keeping the cellar. It just isn't served ice cold, which numbs your taste buds and means you could be drinking carbonated horse urine and you wouldn't know. In fact from the taste of room temperature Aussie beers, I think that could be what it is.

I love The Beacon, thank goodness the family had the sense to preserve it.
