Could someone please see if there is a Martha COOKE or COOK still alive in 1911 in Birmingham.
I think she may have died the summer of 1911.... so should still be on 1911 census?

She was born around 1844 in Handsworth ( daughter of William and Francis BASSETT)... married to Thomas Henry COOKE, a file cutter.

Martha was widowed by 1901...think I found her then in Lodge Rd, Birmingham...boarding with James and Annie NICHOLL. Martha was there listed as a launderess.

In 1891 she lived on Garbett St, and before that in 1881 Devonshire St, Birmingham

Many thanks

Maybe she died before 1911?...& I just picked out the wrong death record.
Could she be in Wolverhampton?...as that is where her family were from before moving to Birmingham?
I know she wasn't living with daughter Harriet or son William in 1911... As I have 1911census for them. Don't know about her other daughters though?
Will dig out their details & add in a minute

The other 2 daughters I have for Martha are...
Sarah Ann Cooke, who married James Henry Hindley in 1886, they had several children & some of this family ended up in Canada. I don't know where Sarah is in 1911... I would expect her to have a son Gilbert .. He was born around 1905

The other daughter is Mary A Cooke...I don't know where she is after 1881, when she was in the family home on Devonshire St

Don't know whether Martha is with one of them?

Try this one:
1911 11 Park Avenue, Suffrage St. Smethwick.
Martha COOK hd. Widow. 70 Receives Parish Pay. b. Handsworth, Stafford.
6 children born alive
4 living
2 died.

Lodge Rd.(Where she was living in 1901) goes almost to
the border of Smethwick

That one looks promising.....If I am correct...she would still have 4 chldren alive by 1911, though I don't have the 2 that died ( have to see if I can find any record of 2 dying in infancy)
Thanks for your help :P
