Hi there,

I am trying to trace my brother's birth mother and would be grateful for any help. I used this forum in the final stage of my search for my birth mother and the help I gained was invaluable and life changing.
The information I have at the moment is:-
Brother's birth name :Alexander Dobson
d.o.b. 20th September 1967
born in Hexham General

I wondered if any other information would be included in the census/birth records that would help in my search such as mother's address/place of work etc

His birth mother's information so far is
Name: Shirley Dobson (I think the spelling is correct)
Perhaps lived at Alexandra/Alexander Street at the time of birth.
born in 1943/1944

I would be grateful if someone could help to find out any of the following info
a)Confirm the spelling of my brother's birth mother's name in birth records
b)find her d.o.b.
c)find out if she has married and her married name
And ultimately find an address for her.

I know that this is a huge request. I would be so grateful if anyone would be willing to spend the time needed to confirm any of this info and provide any new details that will help in my search. Any small piece of information would be such a help.

Many thanks in advance
K

If you get his birth certificate it wil lhave where he was born, the mothers address and, because there is no father on the form, maybe her profession.

This is the only one in Northumberland int he 1940's.

If born elsehwere then you will need to find some more information to narrow it down.

Civil Registration event: Birth
Name: DOBSON, Shirley
Registration District: Newcastle upon Tyne
County: Northumberland
Year of Registration: 1943
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Mother's Maiden Name: Barn
Volume No: 10B

That transcription is wrong, the mother's maiden name in Burn.

Sticking with the Northumberland theme, this is the only marraige that suit for Shirley's parents.

Civil Registration event: Marriage
MarriageFinder: Jared S Dobson married Annie S Burn
Name: DOBSON, Jared S
Registration District: Northumberland Central
County: Northumberland
Year of Registration: 1941
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
Spouse's last name: Burn
Volume No: 10B
Page No: 1088
Name: BURN, Annie S
Registration District: Northumberland Central
County: Northumberland
Year of Registration: 1941
Month of Quarter: Apr-May-Jun
Volume No: 10B
