My parents were looking for family gravestones in St. Peter's Churchyard, Harborne..... they found an Isaac GREAVES ( 1807-1875).
I found him on the 1851 census living in York St, Harborne
Isaac GREAVES(42) gardener born Harborne,
wife Mary(46)born Halesowen,
kids born Harborne...George(21)unmarried lapidary, Mary Ann(12), Mary(8),
Sarah GATCHFIELD(82) mother-in-law & John GATCHFIELD(52)b-in-law..ag.labourer..both born Halesowen
I am having no success chasing up these GATCHFIELDs can't find them on census other than this one...and can't find any on the BCC tree
Anyone know anything about GATCHFIELDs?
Cheers

Gosh kdw that was fast!
Didn't have that marriage but it fits perfectly with the ages of the children..... son George born in 1829
I found several GATESFIELDs on IGI and am wondering if they are the same family?
Thanks

Hi Expat, don't you have any normal names

I found the following in the Halesowen St John's Register:-
2.11.1824 Elizabeth Gathfield Burial Ridgeacre 28 years
4.7.1833 John Gatchfield Burial Wards End 73 years
Will post any more I find.

I think some of my ancestors made up their names as they went along!!!
... then of course ....I do have the ones with 'normal names'..... but they are names like Jones and Taylor and there are too many of them... so that's difficult too!!
It's still fun working it all out though isn't it?

Keeps your mind active
My mom's family are the Jones's and Taylors from Tipton
My dad's family wasn't so bad - Salt from Clent
Then I started on my dad's Welsh side and found Hughes, Williams and yet more Jones'
