I'm looking for any info regarding Gertrude Nellie Haines, b 21/9/1914 (FreeBMD has Dec 1914 Petworth 2b 491) married to George Simpson (Free BMD has Jun 1936 Midhurst 2b 1173).
According to my mother she was married twice, lived in Arundel in Sussex and emigrated to Australia. Whether this was before or after her first marriage I know not.
Thanks.

A few things strike me:
Birth and death for George Simpson would be useful but FreeBMD gives too many possibilities to track him down and it's too recent for a census entry. Unless Gertrude married an old man a possible death might be
Deaths Dec 1940 (>99%)
Simpson George 34 Horsham 2b 822
She might have returned from down under. It's not that common a name and it's always possible mother was mistaken about her permanently leaving these shores. I don't know if it's possible to find out on passenger lists or if Harry Lintott can be shown to have gone abroad, maybe even died there.
Nellie is a diminutive of Ellen and FreeBMD has her as Gertrude E for her birth
Births Dec 1914 (>99%)
HAINES Gertrude E Woods Petworth 2b 491

I can't see anything that fits on the passenger lists, or Australian records on Ancestry.

But I still think it's likely to be the right one, how many Gertrude Nellie's were born on the 21st September 1914?

Thanks Jimmy, I think we can put this to bed.
