Server Downtime and Relocation; Update

For some time now, the success of the forum has resulted in the site using more resources than we had readily available. Unfortunately, this afternoon, we hit the absolute limits of capacity, which resulted in a serious failure of the site.

In order to address this, I have now relocated the site to a new server. With over 2000 users and 100,000 posts, this was no small task and one which has probably caused me to gain a few more grey hairs

Thanks to regular backups, all content from the old site has been transferred to the new server and, hopefully, users shouldn't notice any difference. If however you should do, in the first instance, please report this by posting in the "Site Feedback and Suggestions" section, at the bottom of the forum front page. If you are unable to log in or post, please email webmaster@genealogyforum.co.uk

Good work, another forum I use on this platform took nearly a week to do the same job.

Just to update, main functions are all OK and a slight issue with the gallery has now been fixed. I'm aware of an issue which is preventing the sending of mail notifications for topics, new PMs, etc. Hopefully it should be sorted soon, but no firm ETA as yet.

Hopefully the last update - all being well, everything on the server should be functioning correctly. A few users may still be affected by the DNS update but, that aside, the server itself should now be fully transferred and working. If anyone notices any issues, please post in "Site Feedback & Suggestions".
