Could anybody help me?
i`am trying to find the whereabouts of FOUNTAINS YARD OLDBURY as my grand-parent was born there in 1887
I've looked at maps but with no success
could FOUNTAINS be a family or a factory yard?

Hi Buxton, I'm just going through the 1901 Oldbury Census.
If I spot anything, I'll give you the nod

Sorry Buxton - no luck
I wonder if it was a yard off Fountain Lane, Oldbury (still couldn't find it though)

Perhaps someone from the area can do better?

Mally

There is a st called Stone st on the 1881 and in brackets it has the word (fountain) district 18 of Oldbury

What is the name of your grandparent have you found him on the census in 1891 ?

I'm looking at the OS map of Oldbury and Spon Lane of 1904. I can't see a Fountains Yard, but there appear to be yards off either side of Fountain Lane, the road is still there, off Bromford Lane, running briefly alongside the railway line that goes to Wolverhampton from Oldbury and Bromford Lane Station, now Sandwell and Dudley. I think that area is your best bet. The Oldbury historian, Terry Daniels, may be able to help: http://historyofoldbury.co.uk/index.htm
