Horrible Circumstance
A few days ago, a man died at Blockley, in this county, of smallpox; on the same day the body was put into a coffin, and placed in the church-yard while the grave was made: some children who stood near the coffin,
thinking they heard a groan, mentioned the circumstance to the grave digger, who, however, took no notice of it, and the body was interred.
The children having talked of what they heard, attention was excited, and on the following morning, the body was taken up, when, dreadful to relate, the torn state of the shroud, left no doubt that the
poor wretch had been buried alive!
Oooha!
