I think Stephen is son of Eliza the dau of Stephen and Mary

Hi, Rydawpark and many thanks, NL! Yes, Stephen's parents were Richard and Elizabeth, I've never got further back than them. Thomas Rock b. about 1834 Rowley Regis, Stephen's brother, married Caroline Plant b. 1836, daughter of John Plant and Ann Harris in 1854. I have a lovely story about their son Jabez James Rock b. 1857 Waterfall Lane, Rowley Regis told to me by Raymond Rock some years ago, my thanks to him: "Jabez [a chainmaker] had a dog that was, allegedly, half Great Dane & half Hound. When Sarah [daughter Sarah Jane b. 1900] was young, the dog would walk around the dining table with her on its back. It was always a set routine - three times round the table, then walk underneath it. Jabez always had to whisk Sarah off the dog's back before she injured herself on the underside of the table."
