ARC TBC............Well - I've never seen this before

After many years looking at marriages - I've seen deceased or dead on the father's details but this is a new one on me - wonder why?
26 March 1872 - St James, Dudley
Thomas Poole, 21, B, Engineer, of Dudley, Father John Poole (alive)Engineer
Harriet Round, 21, S, of Dudley, Father James Round (alive)Charter Master
Wit : Joseph Poole and Mary Poole

The new vicar of St James (Curate) A Hughes at that time marked the parents either (Dead) or (Alive) on all his marr from 10 Feb 1872- 1 Apr 1872 normal after that- must have been keen!
