Hi, I need help finding birth record for Albert Parks born about 1891. Albert married Ethel Emma Kettle 1912, St John the Evangelist, Walworth, London. Father's name on marriage cert says John Rogue Parks ?. Albert changed his name from Parks to Parkes between 1912 and 1914. On son's birth cert 1922, Albert is listed as a disabled soldier. There is an Albert Parks on the 1911 census, soldier 21 y/o born Maldon, Kent ?. Albert died, age 49 1940, Bournemouth, under name Parkes. I have all this info but i'm unable to find birth record or parents/siblings names. Many thanks. Rapraw.

I'm am unable to find Albert or his family on any census other than the one mentioned in 1911.

Bit of a needle in a haystack.........who were the marriage witnesses, could be sisters brothers? Albert could be a middle name? Are you sure the one in 1911 is yours? Can you trace him back through the Census? Linell.

Hi, Yes it is a needle in a haystack, i have been looking for Albert for over 2 years and nothing ?. No i'm not sure the one in 1911 census is mine but it's the closest i've got so far, not much help i know. The witnesses to the marriage were Hannah Rebecca Barratt/Barrott (Ethel's Grandmother) and a Thomas Bizzell. I don't know who Thomas Bizzell was or if he was related in some way.

Just a thought, my father's name was Albert William Bernard, known as Bill (Albert's oldest son) so yes Albert could be a middle name.

The image for the marriage says:

Ethel Emma Kettle, age 21, spinster, laundress, address: 100 Rodney Place, father: William Kettle, Master builder.

I think Rodney Place was a part of Palatine Buildings or very close to it.

1911 - Only the following coming up for Rodney Place

None of these show Albert or Ethel

It would seem that my Grandfather has made a very good job of hiding himself and his parents behind the brick wall

Adams Clark 36. Boarder. Southampton.

Occupation for John PARKS(Above)...
Carpenter Undertaker.

Occupation on marriage cert for John says Gamekeeper but it also says William Kettle was a master builder when in fact he was a painter and decorator, so anything is possible i guess.

Hi not sure if this is any help but i do have a certificaite for The Royal Sanitary Institute, Examination for Sanitary Inspector, given to Albert Parkes 9th December 1922, it is signed by the Chairman of the Council, LOUIS C Parkes, i haven't been able to make a connection between the two but Albert had changed his name from Parks to Parkes by 1922.
Also my father always said they lived in Rodney Road not Rodney Place but he wasn't born until 1912.

There are 145 houses in Rodney Road, the last one being a police station I think with about 26 police officers listed.

The other houses my be apartments because dome of them contain more that one family.

I have looked at a few around No 100, and can't see anyone who'se name resembles Albert Park(e)s.

Thanks Maggie, No clues there then unless Louis is an Uncle ? or is that just wishful thinking, i guess the mystery continues .
I've had another look at the marriage cert and it says Albert 22, porter and Ethel Emma Kettle 21, laundress, Ethel's birth cert says she was born in 1894 so she would of been 18 not 21. I'm wondering if Albert lied about his age to ?. Also wondering if they were working in a hotel as they were porter and laundress and if so maybe the same one ?.
