Could I please have a 1911 Look Up for Joseph Elijah Yardley born 1832 Lye Waste. Wife Sarah born 1834.

In 1901 they are living in QB. Many thanks from Linell.

YARDLEY, Joseph E Head Married M 78 1833 Private Means Lye Worcestershire
YARDLEY, Sarah Wife Married 43 years F 76 1835 3/p Weck Old Age Pensioner Amblecote Brierley Hill Staffs
NO chidren

What does the 3/p mean -- anyone know?

It means: 3 shilling a week pension...

Thank you -- I had missed the dash and not realised the p was short for per but knew it wasn't pence as it was d then!-- hence my confusion

Thanks Sparks and Maths Girl, interesting about the Pension, Old Age Pensions were bought in by Lloyd George 1909, didn't get much did they :!: Linell.

In 1910, £0 3s 0d would have the same spending worth of today's £8.56.

They were probably being sarcastic and
