Hi, I have been trawling through it and am unable to find someone (name is ALWAYS) a problem.
It is almost certain to be mistranscribed and there is evidence he worked on the railways so I cant use area to pin him down.
So my best hope is a separate transcription, to that end, have FMP "sold" any of their transcriptions on or am I right in thinking that the Ancestry people are re transcribing the lot?
Thanks

Yep

I get so confused at this I often cant find myself.
Ralph Rattue, dont have a middlename, born Wilts, Laverstock 1885, didnt marry til 1916 (Unless someone tells me he fitted a marriage in before that) I guess he might be limited to the southern railways if he had a job out of Salisbury and Portsmouth, probably need to be in a railway forum for that!

Thanks for trying but I have all the family in place back to the 1800's when it gets sticky again.....I have his parents but he is not there with them. I have the woman he is gonna marry cosy at home with her first family. Just got access to the 1911 and wanted to bring them all up to date.
So I guess he is mistranscribed somewhere as its a strange name out on its own in a boarding house or similar.Transcribers in the wilts area have plenty of them to compare and there are a few batches around the country. Thats why I may get another chance if the whole lot are being worked on with a fresh set of eyes.
So does anyone know how thats being done?

A quick google shows there was a serious railway strike in 1911, he might have been away demonstrating or scabbing. If he was a senior engineer he might have been abroad, for instance the British section of the Kowloon - Canton railway opened in 1910.

Ancestry are doing it to be on later this year they hope.
I find it easier to search on
http://www.1911census.co.uk/because using the advanced search you can play about with the letters more. But I didnt have any luck seeing your man.

Hi Wortle
Are you still working on this or can it be archived?
Jo
