I have at last established that my great great grandfather's mother was Charlotte WITHERS, born around 1816 Northfield.

She married Matthew GREAVES ( possibly at St. Martins Birmingham 2 Dec 1833... according to someone else's tree on 'Ancestry', though I don't know where they got this from?)

I know that Charlotte and Matthew were living at 8 Court Tennant Street, Birmingham in May 1838 ( from her son George's birth certificate)

In 1841 they were living in Murphy Row, B'ham with children James(age 5), George (age3) and Ellen (age 4months)
In 1851 they were in Metchley Lane, Harborne with children James(age14), George (13), Joseph(7) and Esther(5)

I have a possible death for Charlotte in 1851
Husband Matthew is married to Mary Anne by 1861

I haven't been able to find out any more about Charlotte..... eg. who her parents were.

How would I get hold of a marriage certificate ? ( so far I have only ever got marriage certificates from 1837 onwards)

Does anyone know anything about WITHERS family of Northfield?

You can ask somebody on the Birmingham History Forum to do a lookups for you.

They have been very helpfull with my Brummie relatives.

The fact that three children were baptised on the same date suggests they may have recently moved into the Parish.

It seems like a large gap between first born (that we know of) and the marriage.

I would get somebody to look at the physcial parish registers to check the names.

This is likely to be her as a Wheeler rather than a Withers.

I don't think Charlotte Wheeler is the right one there are three Marriages in the right time frame for a Charlotte Wheeler born 1817 in Edgbaston, near Northfield:-

I agree with the Charlotte Wheeler. Probably nothing to do with Withers.

Who are the Barnes living with them in 1841? Are the related to Matthew or Charlotte?
