So hi
Currently researching in Wales so I dont know if I am going to be much use to anyone here. But hey I thought all the ancestors would be in the west country anyway.

Hello Wortle - welcome to the forum - some my ancestors are from Merthyr. My GrGrandad moved from Devon to Wales in the 1880s.

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in North Wales, and have the odd ancestor from Montgomeryshire.

you be suprise at where your relies can get i thought i was the first one to live where im at now, 200 miles from my familes origin, but was beaten by one relie 150 years ago

My family are from the BC but, my Gt.Grandfather was born in Glasgow.
and my Gt.Grandfather on the maternal side always said he was from Wales
All my research shows him originating in Wolverhampton...Still he was a
'Commercial Traveller' so prone to telling stories........

Thanks for all the welcomes.
Yep got the odd relies too.
I have just had a look at the 1911 for my Grandmother who says she was born in Gibraltar....obviously her real birthplace of Aldershot hadnt got quite the kudos she wished to portray.

It could be that she was born at 'Gibralter Barracks, Aldershot.!!!!!!!!!!

Her mum was born in Gib so I think she adopted the exoticness of that into her own persona!
